How can I start a Vegan diet effectively specifically to lose weight fast?
I’m sick of being 252 lbs. Looking to drop down to 200. How can I do this by eating vegan food. Any good diet plans available on the web? I’ve been looking all over! The Paleo Diet also seemed like something that would work.

Nancy asks…
Can you give me a sample raw food diet plan without soybeans and tofu?
I am thinking about switching from the paleo diet to a raw food diet. Any tips?
Here’s a sample of what I might normally eat:
a small plate of chicken slices
6 chicken wings
2 precooked angus burgers(I cooked them back up)
a few handfuls of almonds
a lemon
lots of raspberries and blueberries
an apple
a salad containing swiss chard, spinach leaves, hazel nuts, almonds, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries
dandelion leaves
ground ivy leaves
a few red clover leaves
I usually have 2 to 3 cuts of meat a day and a couple handfuls of nuts for a staple. Then the rest I have are fruits and vegetables.
2 angus burgers without the buns and the additives just the meat itself and nothing else that is
Is there anything I can do to improve my diet? I want to hear from a vegetarian/vegan perspective.
I do have cheese when its raw so I get vitamin D. I don’t drink processed milk, and eat garbage.

Hi,Ive been doing the paleo for about 2 weeks now..broke down today and toasted 1/2 a bun of Ezekial. On the bag,it says”Different from most buns today, these unique buns (or bread) are made from freshly sprouted live grains and contain absolutely no flour.we believe in sprouting the grains we use in our buns because sprouting is the best way to release all of the vital nutrients stored in grain”I truly missed my Ezekial
…and after reading this,I thought heck,once in a while,why not?)http://www.passionatefitness.com/primal-living/156-the-paleo-diet-disproven-new-discovery-shows-bread-around-for-30000-years.I must say,after eating paleo-ish these last 2 weeks,my pain has gone done considerably.Best of luck to you!

Hi,
I’m assuming that you want to lose weight (?).
Your exercise plan sounds good but what about your food intake. Do you know how many calories you need to consume?
Here is a link that will help you:

Your caloric intake is very important. Just remember that if you are planning on exercising then you need to take in more calories. But make sure that you are eating lots of nutritious foods.
REMEMBER THAT BEING HEALTHY IS A WAY OF LIFE.

Lisa asks…
Is my diet vegetarian, or paleo diet?
Meat and other protein
Every day I pretty much eat eggs
I drink milk on and off
I eat cheese a lot if its available
I eat steak 2 to 3 times in a period of 2 weeks.
I eat chicken wings almost every day
I do eat hamburger meat a lot
I am starting to eat more uncured bacon
I have never ate bison before, but I was planning on to
I have only had liver once and that was a few days ago
I do eat wild salmon and fish when I can, but it comes maybe once or twice every two weeks
I do eat pork occasionally, about every 4 weeks
ill eat turkey if its available, but it never really comes
We eat sausage or hot dogs once every two months.
Fruits and Vegetables:
I eat raw avocados on and off.
I eat carrots often
Our family is fed broccoli and beans often.
We are introducing more kale into the family.
We buy more apples, oranges, strawberries, raspberries, bananas than ever.
We don’t have squash very much, once a month.
I will buy yukon gold or red potatoes and eat them on and off.
I don’t eat lettuce very often, but have been recently.
We eat spinach occasionally
We occasionally buy celery.
We sometimes buy tomatoes.
Sometimes we eat nuts. Occasionally, I will go for the nuts if I don’t have any eggs, milk, or chicken. I usually eat sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews, walnuts, pistachios
Very rarely, I eat bread. If I eat them, I usually get the urge to eat more and more cause it tastes so good. I get spelt bread if I do.
Pasta- I quit pasta. I only eat it if necessary and I am hungry and there is nothing else to eat.

How can you think this is a “vegetarian” diet? I’d call this diet unhealthy. For optimal health, you should eat colorful vegetables and leafy greens every day for calcium, iron, and other important nutrients. Eating healthy whole plant food, once in a while, will not cut it. In addition, for optimum health, you need to eat whole/unprocessed grains (non-gluten is best), legumes (peas, nuts, and beans),and whole fruits. As a pure vegetarian (no animal proteins) I enjoy the best health, alertness, and well-being that I’ve ever experienced. I also take B12, D, and Omega-3 (flax seed) and shun excess salt, sugar, fat, oils, MSG, aspartame, and other unhealthy food additives, processed ingredients, and contaminants.
Animal proteins such as meat, fish, pork, poultry, and dairy, tend to raise acid level in the blood causing problems such as excess secretion of calcium. That’s right, eating too much milk and dairy causes a net loss of calcium (Harvard Nurses’ Study). Animal proteins are totally unnecessary for a healthy diet despite what the television advertising and pseudo health programming claims.
My advice is to read any of the following highly regarded authors and researchers on the topic of human nutrition:
- Dr. Dean Ornish
- Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr.
- Dr. T. Colin Campbell (Professor Emeritus at Cornell)
- Dr. Joel Fuhrman
- Dr. Neal Barnard
The list of nutritionists who recommend a whole plant based diets is very long. I just gave you the top authorities on the topic. The science is very consistent if you take the time to look at the raw research. Mass media has a stake (steak) in supporting very profitable sponsors. Networks often lose lucrative advertising contracts when they go against the interests of their sponsors (“The Mad Cowboy”).
Oprah has learned that the hard way! Despite that fact, occasionally we see accurate programming on healthy eating, but more often it’s a sanitized version that does not anger the sponsors.
By the way, I tell everyone to make sure to check with their doctor about any medicines they may be taking. As their health and their cardiovascular system improves, drug dosage may need to be reduced, especially cholesterol reducing medications. Powerful drugs have powerful side effects.
The most powerful treatment is diet and lifestyle. Unfortunately, many doctors give up on their patients and get out their prescription pad to treat symptoms instead of cause.
